We will be hosting the Grade 2 class on Friday to view their Fairytale movies and claymation videos. Please let me know if you need any help with the editing. Also you should be wrapping up work on your Genre Project for Wednesday’s class.

The TED website just released this video that shares a different interpretation of how music videos should be created as an expression of the song. What do you think of the video?

Meeting the Mascots

The objectives of this project are as follows:

  • To make some new friends in ECLC
  • Produce a 5 – 7 minute video about the class Mascot that will enrich the role of the Mascot plays in the classroom
  • Actively communicate with the teachers and students to decide on a plot outline for the video
  • Encourage ECLC ownership of the video by having them participate in the planning and filming
  • Use still photos to combine stop motion with video clips
  • Videos should include your title sequence with your logo, credits, and appropriate music
  • Be Creative!

Depending on the schedule of the ECLC class, each production crew will be going into the classroom on either Monday or Wednesday. The purpose of this first visit is to get to know the students, teacher and mascot. You will be participating in a regular ECLC class whether it be circle time or story time so bring your best smile and have something ready for show and tell. Here are your class assignments:

Litte Orange Children – Ms. Higgins

Subdivision – Ms. Cowled

T&N – Ms. Peters

Fur on Fire – Ms. Ayling

Each group must post a reflection of their experience in the class and 2 initial ideas you have for the video on your blog before Wednesday, October 12. And don’t forget to get started on this as well.

The Mascot Project

TBVJOur next project is a collaborative project with ECLC. Each ECLC class has a mascot that plays an important part in their class. Each production crew will be going into an ECLC class to get to know the students and work with the teachers to plan, edit and produce a video about their class mascot. The real challenge will be to share ownership of the production by actively involving the ECLC students in the process. Stay tuned for class assignments and project objectives. Maybe we need a mascot for our class.

 Claymation

In our second collaborative project, we are working with the students in the ArtMUD class to produce a short claymation video. The ArtMUD students have designed and created several characters while the Video Journalism students have devised the storyboard. Shooting is underway and each production crew is using a different process to produce their video. We can’t wait to see the results.

Water slide

Great job everyone on the CWW videos! Thanks to the Grade level leaders for carefully selecting the photos. They livened up the assembly and made for entertaining viewing. Subdivision Productions produced the Grade 6 video.Fur on Fire Productions produced the Grade 7 video. T&N Productions produced the Grade 8 video.

A couple of things to remember:

  • Watch your movie project at least once before you render it into a video, make sure it flows smoothly from start to finish.
  • Remember to match your music to your videos on the timeline, this may take some creative editing of the songs.
  • Start adding your logo before the title sequence so we know which production company was responsible for the video.
  • Make sure everyone has a chance to edit and try using different editing software.

Twilight Zone Chase Sequence

Twilight Zone

We started the year with a collaborative project with Mr. Crawford’s IB film class. The idea was that we would get to see some pros in action and learn the basics of producing a video with some experiential learning. The IB students wrote the scripts and storyboards while we were left to direct, act, and crew the video. After seeing the final products, we set out to complete the same assignment by ourselves. We were divided into 2 crews of 8. Max was the manager for one crew while Sophia was the manager for the second crew. Students were expected to create a chase sequence. During the chase, the actors were to enter through 4 doors and 2 other portals, yet exit a different way each time.
